Castro Valley Unified School District Appoints
Doris De La Torre
for
Multilingual Services Director
Castro Valley, CA – (March 13, 2024) – At the March 13th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education took action to select Doris De La Torre for the position of Multilingual Services Director.
Ms. De La Torre has served as the Principal at Vannoy Elementary School since 2018. She later launched the District’s Dual Language Immersion Program, which serves TK through 1st grade. Early in her professional career, Ms. De La Torre returned to Castro Valley Unified as an elementary school teacher at Castro Valley Elementary, where she taught second grade. In that role, she served as an English Learner Site Coach and later as a Response to Intervention Specialist until 2014, before moving on to Assistant Principal at Canyon Middle School until 2018.
Ms. De La Torre was raised in Castro Valley and attended Proctor Elementary, Canyon Middle School, and Castro Valley High School before earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and teaching and administrative credentials from Cal State East Bay. Ms. De La Torre is passionate about supporting multilingual learners as a bilingual educator. In this new role, she looks forward to supporting all district schools and engaging families as partners.
