April Wong

Human Resources Director
Castro Valley, CA – (May 22, 2026) – At the May 22nd Personnel Commission meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Personnel Commission appointed April Wong as Human Resources Director for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Ms. Wong is currently the Secondary Education Director and previously was the Human Resources Director at Pleasanton Unified School District. She currently fosters an inclusive and comprehensive onboarding program to support employees. Her familiarity with Castro Valley stems from her five-year tenure leading Canyon Middle School. During this time, she developed a schoolwide academic and behavioral program focused on high expectations and culturally and linguistically responsive practices. Ms. Wong has actively participated in district-wide teams and committees, such as the Negotiations Team, Grading for Equity, and the Dual Language Immersion Advisory and Planning Committee.
Ms. Wong was also raised in Castro Valley and attended Vannoy Elementary, Canyon Middle School, and Castro Valley High School before earning her Bachelor of Arts with honors in History and Political Science, Master of Arts in Education, and teaching credential from the University of California, Davis. She also earned her administrative credential from California State University, East Bay.
